I received my Masterís in Social Work in 1998 from Washburn University, and my LSCSW (Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker) license in 2001. Prior to private practice I worked at a local community mental health center. My case load consisted primarily of children in the foster care system or children who were being adopted. The issues I treated included abuse, neglect, family violence, depression, anxiety, and attachment issues. I also provided parents and families of these children with mental health services.
After several years of practice and seeing the effect of trauma on my clients, I decided to further my education and received specialty training in the area of trauma treatment. As a result, it is my opinion that my clients experience a more efficient and effective treatment.
If a client has religious beliefs that he or she finds helpful, faith based therapy continues to be a great source of joy for me.
My view of those whom I see is that we have the ability to heal if provided the appropriate environment. My goal is to provide that environment and guide clients toward their own healing.
